All gone! Herbal essence beautiful ends hair mask

I have recently had my hair cut into a long bob again so I had the chance to use this product on both long and short hair which was nice to see if there was much difference in the result.

This product is available in the high street and some supermarkets too (I know Asda do it as I got mine from there!!).
Firstly, one of the first things that sways me to buy something is the smell!  This smells lovely!  I had a sniff in the shop and decided to give it a go!
When I had longer hair I needed something like this, but I needed something like this that worked!!!  It was nice to have a hair mask and it does smell nice but honestly I noticed little difference!  Maybe my expectations were too high or maybe I couldn't see the real difference it made but I was a little disappointed if I'm honest.
Then I finished the tub up on my new shorted hair and again it didn't do much for it.  I think it made more of a difference to shorter hair but still I wasn't impressed.

Verdict:

I won't buy this again as for my hair type (fine with lots of it!) it doesn't seem to work and I really wanted it to as it smelt fab and was a good price but sadly it wasn't to be!!!

Parting is such sweet sorrow!

Hi again, as I mentioned in my last post I have been having a clear out, I gave a huge bag of bits and pieces to my sisters and there were a few products that I had to throw away.

The dream mouse collection from Maybelline I loved, I had hit pan on the concealer and I think forgotten about the foundation (which I did love back then) but to be honest the three Maybelline products pictured above were unusable and so had to go!
There were about 5 lip balms that I decided to chuck away as the ones you dip your fingers in I am not a huge fan of them and I just kept thinking germs so threw them away.

I would certainly consider repurchasing the Maybelline dream matte mouse as I really liked the foundation but the others I probably wouldn't!

What products have you thrown out lately?

Birchbox UK November 2013

For the past five months or so birchbox have been using a new courier and since becoming birchbox and having a new courier I have never failed to be impressed with their boxes!

This month the box came with a usual card with the theme name on it and this months is icons.  It also has five postcards with it and these have a tutorial, what to watch, listen to, do and check out.  One of the cards have words of wisdom which are quotes from well known people, one card is a gift guide and the last one is for you to fill in and share about your icons.

The first thing I noticed with this box was actually the smell!  It smelt of almost Christmas when I opened the box and that was because of these!

Some Pukka tea samples.  I love tea and will try these, I got the flavors three cinnamon (this may account for the Christmas smell!), elderberry and echinacea and earl grey.  This is a nice sample provided you are a tea fan!

Next we I received the Laura Mercier body butter in vanilla.

It said you could have received either vanilla or fresh fig and to be honest I fancied trying fig as I am not a huge vanilla fan, I don't like how sweet it can be, however after smelling this I take that back!!  This does smell sweet but not in a sickly way and on the skin it turns to a warm vanilla scent, delicious for this time of year and I will begin using this tomorrow properly!

Then was the Weleda replenishing oat shampoo.

I love Weleda products and this says it is organic (perfect) and contains jojoba oil to smooth, reduce breakage and improve suppleness.  Perfect sample for me!

Then was the Chella highlighter pencil.

This says you can use it to add glow to the areas you wish to accentuate and this can be anywhere from your brow bones to cheekbones, a great all rounder if you ask me.  I photographed it with the birchbox pencil sharpener as this was the goodie this month and I felt this was good thinking on their part!

Next I received the Spa Find sculpted silhouette intensive bust firming extract serum (phew!)

This says it boosts collagen production, repairs sun damage and improves tone and firmness.  I am not a busty lady and I have two children and still feel I am fine it that department so I won't be using this.  I will however pass it on to my Mum as she is more blessed in that area and a little older and may find use for it.

Finally something most complain about, a perfume sample!

This is the English Laundry signature for her eau de parfum.  I am not overly fussed on perfume samples, they don't offend me, I'd rather not get them but hey ho sometimes you do and this one smells OK!  I think as long as they smell wearable then why not pop them in your handbag for emergencies as they can come in handy!

So this month was a little hit and miss, there are products I am so impressed with and others which are meh!  All in all though I am happily sniffing my Laura Mercia body butter and that will keep me very happy for now!

Did you get a Birchbox and what did you get in yours?

All gone! Invigorate body lotion review

I will start off by apologizing for the photo.  I had meant to retake it and then my lovely husband decided to throw away the bottle as he saw it by the computer!  He was trying to be helpful!!
This product was sent by birchbox ages ago (perhaps before they were called birchbox!)
It is a very zingy smelling body lotion and not zingy in a very citrus way, zingy in an awakening smell that really is quite invigorating!!  This only lasted about a week so it is very hard to say what a difference if any it made to my skin, however it did the job and it moisturized nicely.

Verdict:

I didn't really use enough of it to say if it made any difference moisture wise, but if you are after a nice morning moisturizer that smells very fresh and does awaken your senses a little then this is for you, I won't be repurchasing it right now as I am not in the market for something like this but it is a nice product.

All gone! Dirty works salty butter scrub review

I love browsing supermarket products and it seems quite a few over recent years have been trying to compete with soap and glory's range and Sainsburys is no exception.
I brought their salty butter scrub when it was on offer a while ago and they run regular promotions so you can normally get it with a discount!

The packaging is nice and robust and the lid never broke and always went on properly (a problem I seem to get with my products, maybe I'm a little heavy handed with them at times!!).
The scrub itself smells lovely and if you're a fan of soap and glory's flake away you will like this too.  The texture is a fairly runny cream texture with nice grains in it and you really can scrub away and buff your skin well with this product.
For anyone that has used soap and glory's flake away this is not like that in consistency.  Flake away is very thick and almost waxy in comparison to this, that is quite a good thing when you're wet in the shower as the dirty works one does run off your hands a bit which flake away doesn't!  This product felt grainier to me and I did feel it exfoliated better because of that.

You get quite a lot for your money and I felt I wanted to use the whole tub before I reviewed it and that is why there is a picture of an empty tub!!  You can however see how creamy this product is in the picture and how deep the tub is!

Verdict:

This is a brilliant product for the price, it smells lovely, is very gritty and I would probably buy this over soap and glory's flake away as I felt it did a slightly better job on my skin and I am going to pick some more up next time I am in Sainsburys!
